Review 2011

The event is always good for a surprise! After last year's victory by the sovereign Cava Krause team, singer Mickie Krause could already see his team back at the top of the Running Award podium. But things turned out differently: out of the blue the Club de Atletismo Inca - Gardenhotels.com team appeared, pounced and snatched the victory in Palma – an apparently easy exercise, as one of the team re-appeared on the podium as the overall winner of the half marathon: Jonathan Gómez Espinola from Spain (01 : 08:41). The total time for the two fastest women and two fastest men was 5:53:20. Indeed, the Gardenhotels.com team packs a lot of power under the bonnet: behind the name lies the 100-strong Club de Atletismo Inca, with its impressive mountain running pedigree. For instance, the club hosts a 103-km-long race through the famous Tramuntana mountain range, won this year by Miquel Capo, a multiple winner of the TUI Marathon. The Inca athletics club is sponsored by the Garden Hotels group.

This year’s second place in the Running Award went to the Cava Krause team. Third place also went to good, old acquaintances: the Hotel Bellavista.com team.

We congratulate all the teams that competed in the Running Award and we look forward to a new edition in 2012, when the title for the “Fastest company in Europe” is up for grabs again.




Review 2009

Once again this year numerous company teams accepted the challenge of the half marathon distance and took part in the sporting competition for the Running Award 2009. The three winning teams in the company race happily accepted their trophies and prize money.

Taking part for the first time and straight away on top of the winners’ rostrum was the team from the Running Company in Munich. The “fastest company in Europe“ just couldn’t be beaten, especially with the strength they had in Bianca Meyer, the winner of the half marathon. The TUI Team, running in their new event shirts, were happy with their second place. And the Wackel Champions team gained third place, thanks to their strategic aptitude: ”We have engaged extra professional runners for our team!“ – and no sooner said than done. Congratulations to all the winners!

Now the race is over it’s times for the next one … because at the 7th TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca 2010 there will again be a Running Award. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Review 2007
How fast is your company? Once again that was a question asked at the 4th International TUI Marathon Palma de Majorca. We are pleased that the competition among companies, which takes place within the half marathon, is becoming more popular and for the first time attracted a Spanish RUNNING AWARD team. Included in this year’s line-up were the reigning champions from TUI and two teams from EVAG.

New in the pack were, among others, a big team from the Estée Lauder company in Munich with the catchy slogan “We run for beauty“. Also the ketchup and baked beans manufacturer HEINZ attracted a lot of attention as they had a celebrity team member running in the person of the well known actor Martin Semmelrogge.

Then at the awards ceremony came the big surprise: the TUI RUNNING AWARD team from last year had to step down to make way for the new winning team of tour operator Thomas Cook from Lanzarote.

Thanks go to all the company teams and already we are looking forward to the next RUNNING AWARD, which will be held on 19 October 2008.
